A wanted rowdy-sheeter Pradeep Bhave (also known as Seven Star), who reportedly has 19 cases pending against him in six different police stations, was shot at and injured in an encounter near Green City on Shahabad Road on the outskirts of Kalaburagi on Sunday morning.
Three police constables, Tauseef, Venkatesh and Basavaraj, were injured when the accused attacked them.
Superintendent of Police N. Shashi Kumar, after visiting the injured police personnel at Basaveshwar Teaching and General Hospital, said that the accused, Pradeep Bhave, was wanted in 19 cases of extortion, murders and robbery in different police stations since 2014.
The special team, which was formed to arrest the rowdy-sheeter, laid a trap for him and arrested him on the outskirts of the city in the morning.
In a scuffle between the rowdy-sheeter and the police, the latter were forced to open fire as the accused attacked the team with a knife to resist arrest.
The accused is now in the District Government Hospital for medical treatment.
