Cimarex Energy to buy smaller rival Resolute Energy in $1.6-billion deal Oil and gas producer Cimarex Energy said on Monday it would buy smaller rival Resolute Energy Corp in deal valued at $1.6 billion, including debt.

The deal is expected to be completed by the end of the first quarter of 2019, Cimarex Energy said.
