MoU signed for Airbus innovation centre
TNN | Nov 18, 2018, 09:32 ISTTHIRUVANANTHAPURAM : Airbus BizLab, a global aerospace accelerator which is part of the France-based Airbus group, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM) to set up an innovation centre here on Saturday. The MoU was exchanged between Airbus BizLab India leader Siddharth Balachandran and KSUM CEO Saji Gopinath, in the presence of chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
Under the MoU, an Innovation Centre will be set up in Thiruvananthapuram, which will be the nodal body for planning and executing all the activities to help startups. Airbus BizLab will provide support and mentoring for startups in Kerala and conduct regular workshops and discussions with experts from aerospace and defence sectors. Airbus has already set up ‘Airbus BizLab’ — a global aerospace accelerator in Bengaluru, where, “startups and Airbus intrapreneurs speed up the transformation of innovative ideas into valuable businesses”.
“We are confident that this partnership with Airbus Bizlab will help embed innovation in the industrial ecosystem of Kerala. It will up-skill the local youth and will enhance employability,” said the CM.
Chief secretary Tom Jose, IT secretary M Sivasankar, German consul general Margit Hellwig-Boette, scientific adviser to CM M C Dathan, ICT Academy CEO Santhosh Kurup, and Technopark CEO Hrishikesh Nair attended the ceremony.
As per the MoU, the company will identify opportunities for Kerala to adapt aerospace technologies across sectors and bring all the relevant Airbus teams and startups to demonstrate technologies. After successful demonstration, it will help the innovation centre to sign partnerships and deploy the technologies.
