A local council has become a viral sensation overnight thanks to a hilarious sign calling out locals for leaving behind rubbish.
Planted by the Granville Harbour Community Coast Care, on Tasmania's west coast, the sign takes on litterers with a check-list alluding to a set of character traits.
The sign poses the question: 'Why are you littering?'
There are three humourous responses and an 'all of the above option'.

The tongue-in-cheek answers suggest the rubbish-dumper is a 'jerk', does not care for natural areas and that 'mummy' still cleans up after them.
Pictures of the sign have been shared to social media where viewers have debated how to respond to a littering epidemic.
'We need to change cultural attitudes regarding littering, Japan doesn't have a littering problem,' one viewer suggested.
'We also need to stop the crap being produced in the first place or make biodegradable packaging mandatory.'
Many viewers discussed how they were often shocked to find large amounts of litter dumped throughout the environment.
'Awesome sign,' another person wrote.

'I was sitting at a popular chair yesterday in front of a water view. I picked up 216 cigarette butts. Went back today to find another 8 new ones. A sign like this is needed.'
Other viewers claimed that similar signs were needed to deter litterers from dumping their waste.
'WOW these signs should be rolled out across the country.'
