Police hunt for gold-toothed tram groper

Police are searching for a gold-toothed man they believe sexually assaulted a woman on a tram earlier this year.

A 23-year-old woman boarded a route 70 tram from Flinder Street in the city at 7pm on July 25th this year.

She was travelling with family and friends, and due to a large event that had been held in the CBD, the tram was packed with commuters.

She was forced to stand face to face with a man with gold-capped front teeth.

The man began to sexually assault her and while she tried to get away the tram was too crowded.

Unable to escape the man continued to assault her.

Eventually, she was able to push herself away from him and told her family and friends, who were o the tram with her, what had just happened.

Another commuter told him to leave and the man got off the tram at the William Barak Bridge stop.

Police believe that he was of Indian or African appearance with dark skin and a shaved head.

He was wearing business clothes and a camel coloured jacket.

Police are now appealing for anyone with any information on this man to come forward.
