Online sex racket busted in city, two held
Viraj Deshpande | tnn | Nov 18, 2018, 05:49 ISTNagpur: The Social Service Branch (SSB) of the city police busted a high-profile online escort service racket and arrested two persons, including the woman kingpin, on Saturday.
Police also rescued a 26-year-old Delhi woman, who was allegedly forced into flesh trade by the duo by luring her with money.
The accused, identified as Maya alias Pooja Rao and Atish Khadse, have been booked for human trafficking under sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Immoral Trafficking (Prevention) Act.
It is learnt that Maya, who hails from Bhillai, has a past record in dealing with girls at Chennai. She had also worked in cities like Mumbai, Pune, and Delhi among others.
SSB had received a tip-off about an online escorts’ providing site running in the name of ww.skoka.com. Accordingly, a decoy customer called on the number given in the website. Maya spoke to the customers and sent photos of the woman.
The fake customer then met Khadse, who was supposed to deliver the girl in Sadar area. Police arrested Khadse on Friday night and nabbed Maya a day later.
It is learnt that the accused were charging around Rs6,000 per hour. The rescued woman had arrived in the city on a plane on Thursday and was staying at a posh hotel.
