Love Match! Sania Mirza and Shoaib Malik: When love finds its way from across border

Love sees no boundaries, cast, and religion. Cupid strikes between the two individuals at any point of time. In last few years, we have seen many movies (Bollywood) based on two individuals from India-Pakistan falling in love, namely ‘Raazi’, ‘Gadar’ to name few. However, no one has ever thought about it happening it in real life. But it happened to two famous sports personalities from both the rival countries. Yes, we are talking about Indian tennis ace Sania Mirza and Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik.

News about the couple’s marriage came as a big surprise. The two were never spotted together in any event neither they posted any pictures on social media. In this section, let’s find out how this sweet love story of Shoaib Malik and Sania Mirza began away from media glare. And this is not something dreamy like films.

It is said that Sania and Shoaib had met each other just a couple of times. For Sania when she met Shoaib, she was going through a terrible time as she had broken off her engagement with childhood friend Sohrab Mirza. They first met in Hobart in 2014, however, it lasted for just two minutes. The two then met on the tennis court, when Shoaib along with Waqar Younis, went to watch Sania’s match, where the tennis star found him attractive. But then also Cupid didn’t strike between the two. It is in the duo’s third meeting that the charm worked. The couple soon then fell head over heels in love and decided to take their relationship to next level.

When the couple made their relationship public, the two sports stars had to face a lot objections and life threats as they were not just affluent athletes but they also belonged to two rival nations. Their patriotism was questioned in a most terrible way. However, they overcame all by and, as they say, love prevailed above all.

Their wedding was memorable. The wedding festivities began at Sania’s home in Hyderabad. For the couple’s sangeet, many Bollywood star graced the event and performed. A special Shayari and ghazal round also took place in the event. And finally, in 2010, the couple said ‘Qubool Hai’. Since then, on many occasions, the couple have proven that their love is strong enough to beat any hatred.

Recently, the couple embraced parenthood with Sania giving birth to their first child Izhaan. The couple has bestowed their baby boy with both ‘Mirza’ and ‘Malik’ in surname.
