Gang stealing cell phones arrested
TNN | Nov 19, 2018, 04:12 ISTVadodara: A gang of thieves from Rajkot who had stolen several mobile phones was nabbed by the special operations group (SOG) sleuths from Damajirao Guest House near railway station on Sunday.
Police said they had received information that the gang had arrived in the city in an auto-rickshaw. Acting on the tip-off, the four thieves Akash alias Rajesh Solanki, Sunil Solanki, Prakash alias Mental Solanki and Sunil alias Sunny Makwana were nabbed. Cops found 16 smart phones from their possession.
When asked about the source of the phones and their purpose of their visit, they could not give proper answers. They were taken to the police station and interrogated where they admitted that to have stolen the phones from people in crowded areas of the city.
The accused told police that entered the crowded areas and stole mobile phones by diverting victims’ attention. They admitted to stealing mobile phones from Friday flea market, railway station, central bus station and Karelibaug. After stealing the phones, they used to sell them in villages around Rajkot.
