Rajnath Singh extends condolences over Amritsar bombing

offered his condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the grenade attack at the Bhawan in Amritsar's Rajasansi village on Sunday.

Taking to his handle, Rajnath said, "Deeply anguished by the death of innocent people in a grenade attack at in today. It is a reprehensible act of violence. My condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones in this attack and prayers for speedy recovery of the injured."

The further assured that stringent action will be taken against the perpetrators of the attack.

"Spoke to the of Punjab, @capt_amarinder ji who has apprised me of the situation in the wake of grenade attack in Strongest possible action will be taken against the perpetrators of this crime," Rajnath said in a separate tweet.

At least three people were dead, while a further 15 to 20 people were left injured in the bombing. IG (Border) Surinder Pal Singh Parmar confirmed that two individuals had lobbed a hand grenade in the religious congregation, where around 250 people were present.

The state's announced a compensation of Rs five lakh for the kin of the deceased and free treatment for those injured.
