President Ram Nath Kovind has left for Vietnam today. India and Vietnam have Strategic comprehensive partnership and deep civilization linkages.
On the second leg of his tour, he will visit Australia.
This is the first ever visit Australia of any Indian President. During the week-long visit of both the nations, a high level delegation will be accompanying him.
The President’s visit is part of India’s continuing and growing engagement with countries in the Indo-Pacific region under its “Act East” Policy. His visit to Vietnam is considered significant in view of Vietnamese President and Prime Minister’s separate visits to India early this year.
The President is accompanied by high level delegation which includes Union Minister of State for skill development and entrepreneurship, Anant Kumar Hegde and Member of Parliaments Kamakhya Prasad Tasa and Dr. Heena Vijaykumar Gavit.
