The police arrested two transgender persons and a woman for escaping with a pedestrian’s money after approaching her on the pretext of offering blessing.

Police said V Jayasri (43) of T Nagar was standing outside her house on Wednesday when the three suspects approached her. They reportedly told Jayasree that she would lead a wealthy life if they blessed her cash. Believing them, she gave them Rs 5,000. However, the trio fled the spot with cash. Based on her complaint, the Pondy Bazaar police registered a case and arrested the suspects. The cash was seized from transgender persons, R Varsha (23) of Pulianthope and Pallavi (28) of Vyasarpadi, and the woman identified as V Kathija Banu (26) of RK Nagar. They were remanded in judicial custody.
