The two-day Southern Air Command Commanders’ Conference ended at HQ SAC, Akkulam, Thiruvananthapuram, on Friday.
Air Marshal B Suresh, Air Officer Commanding in Chief, Southern Air Command (SAC), spoke on the importance of SAC in preserving and protecting Indian interests in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR). He reiterated that the dynamic and ever-evolving situation in the IOR is likely to put SAC to test any time and hence the need to be op ready at all times.
He highlighted that an op-ready SAC is a deterrent to any misadventure by the adversary.
He said that SAC is poised to grow in a big way in future which accentuates the need for officers to delve deep into operational and maintenance issues to find comprehensive and pragmatic solutions.
He goaded all concerned to ensure timely completion of the ongoing projects including operationalisation of Integrated Air Command and Control System (IACCS), induction of SU-30 Squadron and befitting conduct of the upcoming Combined Guided Weapons Firing.
The Air Marshal stressed on the importance of cyber security and the need to institute strong measures to make Indian systems more robust.
He complimented all air warriors for their good work and for maintaining a good operational tempo.
The trophies for the Best Operational Unit, Best Station in Maintenance and Best Station in Administration were awarded to AF Station, Thanjavur, 250 Signal Unit, Hakimpet and AF Selection Centre, Mysore respectively.
