The Sunday after Thanksgiving, the busiest of the period, will see approximately 650,000 customers fly on 6,072 scheduled flights take to the sky, nearly 900 more flights than the average Sunday in November—nearly as high as Delta’s peak summer day on July 20 with 6,091 flights departing. In contrast Thanksgiving Day itself will see a significantly reduced flight schedule due to traditionally low demand.
Supporting the increased flight schedule, employees supporting divisions behind the scenes, including Information Technology, Reservations and Customer Care, TechOps, those in the Operations and Customer Center such as flight dispatchers, crew trackers, load planners and others will work to support the efforts of Airport Customer Service agents, pilots and flight attendants to ensure a smooth operation on all accounts for the Delta’s customers.
Trade groups that monitor air travel also forecast a record number of customers who will travel by air around the Thanksgiving holiday, and Delta will play no small role in what looks to be a record-setting Thanksgiving travel season.
Delta’s team of meteorologists in the airline’s Operations and Customer Center don’t expect significant weather disruptions, but will continue to monitor throughout the week.
