Duped investors stage protest

more-in

As many as 50 persons who were allegedly duped by an investment firm in Jayanagar staged a protest in front of Central Crime Branch headquarters demanding that the investigation be expedited and the company chairman arrested.

In May this year, Central Crime Branch officials had raided the office of Ajmera Group after a series of complaints that they had duped over 4,000 investors of over ₹20 crore after promising high rates of returns.

Protesters alleged that the owner of the firm, Tabrej, had promised them 17% interest on their investment. For the first four to five months, they enjoyed the high returns, but the money stopped coming in after that.

CCB officials assured investors that they are making progress in the case and are tracking down the accused who is on the run.
