Ahmedabad: Nikhar Patel (23), a resident of Tulsi Bungalows in Sola, has alleged that he was kidnapped by three persons, aged between 22 and 23 years, in his car near Tulip Bungalows on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday. Patel who is a student of JG College, said that the accused were trying to extort Rs 10 lakh from his father Mukesh Patel but later changed the plan and dropped him near Chhatral.

The student claimed that the abductors took away his luxury car and wallet and threatened him with dire consequences if he narrates the incident to anyone. Sola police are gathering CCTV footage from spots mentioned by Patel in his FIR and are also in touch with the city crime branch to trace the call location of the accused.

According to the FIR, Patel had gone to a coffee bar on the SG Road on Friday night. “From there, he went to his maternal uncle’s house and while returning in his car, a car dashed into his car from behind but as the impact was not big, Patel did not pay attention and slowly continued to drive towards his home.

“However, according to the complainant, the same car which bumped into his near Auda Garden on SG Road intercepted his vehicle near Tulip Bungalows. Three youths barged out of their car. One of them slapped him and pushed him inside his own car. An accused allegedly threw chilli powder in his eyes and they drove him towards Hebatpur. The third accused was driving their car behind them,” added a senior police official.

The accused then snatched his phone and asked him to wash his face with water from a bottle lying in the car. “They then asked him that they have kidnapped him and will now call his father for ransom. However, they did not go ahead with the ransom call. Instead, they beat him up and dropped him somewhere near Chhatral,” added an investigator.

Patel claimed that he then called up his father and lodged a complaint with Sola police. “We are probing the details mentioned in the FIR,” added an investigator.
