BEGUSARAI: Vigilance Investigation Bureau sleuths on Saturday caught Begusarai additional district magistrate (ADM) red-handed while he was accepting a bribe in Begusarai district.

Acting on a complaint, a vigilance team headed by deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Gopal Paswan, laid a trap and caught Om Prakash Prasad, the Begusarai ADM, red-handed, while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 6 lakh at his official residence in Begusarai, officials said.

The team also recovered an additional amount of Rs 5.6 lakh from the ADM's residence, the DSP said.

One lawyer called Pramod Kumar Singh had lodged a complaint with the vigilance department stating that the ADM had demanded Rs 15 lakh as bribe for giving a decision in complainant's favour in connection with a land-related case, Paswan said.

Prasad was arrested while he was accepting the first instalment of the bribe money, he said.

The ADM will be taken to Patna and there he will be produced before a designated vigilance court, the DSP said.
