GURUGRAM: A 24-year-old woman has lodged a police complaint against a Golf Course Road-based gym trainer for allegedly abusing and molesting her.
The woman claimed that he tried to have physical relations with her and when she resisted, he threatened her with dire consequences.
According to the complaint, the woman, a resident of Sector 5, joined a fitness club called Ruffit, located on the second floor of Global Foyer Mall on Golf Course Road, around six months ago. Lalit Sharma (30) was her trainer at the gym.
“Initially, he said that I was too flabby and have to take medicines so that I can work out. I paid Rs 40,000 for medicines and injections but those made me lethargic and irritable. When I told him so, he asked me to live with him, saying I also required a special diet. I blatantly refused but then he started touching me inappropriately on the pretext of helping with my exercises. When I confronted him, he threatened me with consequences. I stopped working out with him in the gym but he kept asking me to have physical relations with him,” the woman told police.
On Thursday, Sharma allegedly made obscene gestures at her and threatened her after which she finally decided to move police. “I am a single mother and have been living with two children since the death of my husband around one and a half years ago. I got scared after he threatened me. For myself and the children, I want strict action against him,” she told police.
An FIR has been registered against Sharma under sections 354-A (sexual harassment), 294 (obscene acts and songs) of IPC at the women’s police station in Sector 51. “The woman is living in fear. We have registered an FIR and are conducting raids to nab the accused,” said inspector Raj Bala, SHO of the police station.
