Congress rebel from Ujjain South Jai Singh Darbar said that people of the constituency love and support him whenever he contests election as independent candidate. He enumerated the development and infrastructural works carried out by his Congress corporator brother Vijay Singh Darbar as symbol of his own style of functioning.
Darbar, who worked as District Congress Committee (rural) president for many years and whom the Congress tipped as official candidate in 2013 assembly elections, convened a press conference on Friday to make his submissions. He termed the present Congress candidate Rajendra Vasishtha as a ‘Kamalchhap Congressi’ (a Congressman in the backdrop of BJP) and sitting BJP MLA Mohan Yadav as a multi-millionaire. “Both of them are multi-millionaire and did not work in favour of the people in various capacities during the past years,” he charged.
Darbar refuted the allegation that he sought Rs 2 crore (from Congress candidate) for withdrawing his candidature or was given equivalent sum (from BJP candidate) to remain in fray. He said that like previous occasions, he was contesting election this time on the behest of people and would take decision only on their will to join BJP or Congress after getting elected as an MLA. He said that he would fight the election in a very simple manner and would not use much fan fare.
