CHANDIGARH: In a major relief to owners of properties falling in cities, the urban local bodies (ULB) department of Haryana on Friday announced 30% rebate on the penal interest for property tax payers.ULB minister Kavita Jain said chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar had approved the proposal while fixing December 31 as deadline for the payment of tax to avail the rebate.
There are over 20 lakh property tax assessees under various civic bodies across the state. The government had announced a rebate of 20% for assessees making payment of property tax by June 30.
In the absence of a rebate offer, deposition of property tax had been slower for the past six months. Except for Gurgaon, Faridabad and Panchkula, the collection of property tax was quite high, officials informed.
