An urgent recall has been issued for a jelly cup sold at Asian grocery stores over fears it can cut off a consumers' air supply.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) issued the urgent recall of Mini Cici Jelly 360g and Mini Cici Jelly with dairy 360g on Thursday afternoon.

'The jelly cups contain konjac. Jelly cups containing konjac are permanently banned in Australia,' the recall states.

'Konjac does not dissolve easily when eaten, so if a jelly lodges in a person's throat, it can act as a plug that cuts off air supply.'

'Consumers should not eat these products and should return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.'

The product is being sold in New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory.
