Vadodara: Controversies and Panchmahal BJP MP Prabhatsinh Chauhan seem to go hand in hand. This time around the family of his deceased son Pravin Chauhan are involved in a bitter row with his step-paternal uncle Umesh Chauhan who is Prabhatsinh’s son from a different partner.

Pravin was Prabhatsinh’s son from his wife who is no more while Umesh is the son of Prabhatsinh’s second partner. Pravin’s wife Suman Chauhan is the sitting MP from Kalol elected on a BJP ticket. After Pravin’s death it is his son Sunil alias Pappu who is managing the family business of sand mining in the area. Sources said that Umesh too has interests in the sand mining business and competes with Sunil. The rivalry took an ugly turn on Thursday night when Sunil was attacked allegedly by Umesh and three others including Umesh’s son Raja over the rivalry. Sunil has alleged that he was returning home after visiting Kalol when a SUV overtook his car and stopped it. According to Sunil the accused were armed with sharp-edged weapons and sticks.

According to an offence registered in this regard, Umesh was instigating the others to ensure that Sunil died in the attack.

Sunil has claimed that he ran into farms and managed to escape from the accused. He later went to a hospital for treatment and registered an offence regarding the incident. This is not the first time that the kin of the Pachmahal MP have embarrassed him. Pravin was earlier named in a series of offences and Prabhatsinh had to claim that they had severed relations. Pravin even contested assembly elections from the Congress while his father was with the BJP.

Rangeshwari Chauhan, another partner of Prabhatsinh, had raked up a major row ahead of the 2017 assembly polls demanding that she should be given the BJP ticket for Kalol. She even issued threats that she would not allow campaigning to take place in her area if she was not given a ticket.
