Woman cheated of Rs 3.65 L

Pune: A 38-year-old woman who was planning to marry a man she met online was cheated to the tune of Rs 3.65 lakh by the man. A case was lodged by the woman at Dattawadi police station.

Officials of the Dattawadi police station said that the unidentified person was communicating with the woman through social media applications and the man had assured to marry her. The unidentified person had requested for money several times from the victim who kept on fulfilling his demands. After the woman realised that the man is avoiding to marry her, she filed a cheating complaint at Dattawadi police station. 

The police said that the duo had met online through a popular matrimonial site. This year, the city police received 148 such complaints of people being trapped in matrimonial frauds. The police are investigating the case.
