LUCKNOW: The families of three Karsevaks who were killed in police firing during Ram temple movement in Ayodhya in 1990 will attend VHP's Dharm Sabha on November 25.
The families have been invited by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad for its biggest congregation in Ayodhya since December 6, 1992, when Babri Masjid was demolished.

This would be the first grand event where tributes would be paid to the 'martyrs' of Ram temple movement, claimed VHP leaders. About 1.5 lakh karsevaks are expected to attend the Hindu outfit's congregation.

Among those who will attend the event will be Savitri, the widow of 'martyr' Ramesh Pandey, who belonged to Ayodhya. Pandey was killed on November 2, 1990, when police had opened fire on karsevaks who were heading towards Babri Masjid. UP then had the regime of Mulayam Singh Yadav.

Another martyr was Vasudev Gupta, a resident of Naya Ghat in Ayodhya. He was killed on October 30, 1990, in the first round of police firing on Karsevaks. Vasudev's son and daughter have been invited to Dharm Sabha.

Sister of Kothari brothers, Sharad and Ram Kothari, who were allegedly dragged out of houses and killed in the lanes of the temple town by police on November 2, 1990, is also coming for the event. The brother duo hailed from Kolkata.

Chief of VHP's Awadh Prant Sharad Sharma told TOI, "For the first time since December 1992, karsevaks in such large numbers will come together at a VHP event. All 1.5 lakh karsevaks are coming from UP only and no invitations have been sent to people from other cities since Sant Samagam in Bengaluru and Nagpur is also being held.

Hosable to attend meet too

Besides martyrs’ kin, the list of invitees includes senior RSS leader Dattatreya Hosable, VHP’s international president Vishnu Sadashiv Kokje, VHP’s international working president Alok Kumar and VHP vice-president Champat Rai. The president of the Ram Janmbhoomi Nyas, Mahant Nritya Gopal Das, along with Jagadguru Ramanandacharya, Jagadguru Ramanujacharya and heads of the various Akharas have also been invited.
