Navi Mumbai: A Koparkhairane resident was arrested for allegedly murdering his aunt’s live-in partner. Suresh Chavan (28), who is employed as a peon at a bank, had kicked Virendra Brahmabhat (62) on the chest, which proved fatal, said the police. “Brahmabhat, who owns a vada pav stall, was in a live-in relationship with Ratna Rathod (48), a domestic help,” said senior inspector Shivaji Awate.

On Wednesday night, Chavan came to Rathod’s house for drinks. “When Brahmabhat refused, Chavan abused him and they had an argument. When Rathod’s landlord warned her against creating a ruckus in the building in future, Rathod complained to Chavan’s mother and wife. On Thursday, around 3pm, Chavan came to Rathod’s house, slapped his aunt and kicked Brahmabhat in the chest. Brahmabhat collapsed. He died before reaching NMMC hospital,” said Awate.
