A Police Sub-Inspector was shot dead by a murder accused in Haryana’s Rewari's Dharuhera on Thursday night during an encounter. The accused was arrested at the spot.
Acting on a tip-off, In-charge Crime Branch, SI Ranbir Singh, 49, had gone to arrest Naresh, on Dharuhera-Bhiwadi Road around 9:30 p.m. along with his team when the accused opened fire at the police causing fatal injuries to the police officer. Singh was declared brought dead at a hospital. Naresh was, however, overpowered by the police team and arrested. He will be produced in the court on Friday.
Superintendent of Police, Rewari, Rahul Sharma, said Naresh, hailing from Kharkhara village, had shot dead a fellow villager running a dhaba in Dhaurhera on October 31 and was wanted in this connection. “He is involved in three cases of murder and attempt to murder. SI Ranbir had arrested him earlier as well,” said Mr. Kumar.
