Bachelorette runner-up Todd King, 26, broke down in tears after he was dumped by Ali Oetjen on the show's finale on Thursday night.

And only a night after it aired, Todd penned a lengthy Instagram post saying he doesn't 'regret putting his heart on the line' for the blonde bombshell.

Reflecting on his time on the series, Todd made no apologies for his tearful breakdown during the show.

'Men free and men cry,' The Perth-based sales rep said. 'I grew as a man on the show and I met individuals that I'll hold dear to me for the rest of my life.'

Despite his let down on the show, after he called Ali's his future wife, Todd was filled with gratitude for his time on the series.

He continued: 'I am so thankful for this adventure. Thank you for encouraging me to be vulnerable again, to give everything I am.'

Todd ended the post on a philosophical note.

'Love is something worth fighting for, worth hurting for, worth sacrificing for - and I'll never regret putting my heart on the line in search of love because when you find it, it heals all wounds.'

The post comes after viewers were left in shock last night as Ali chose Taite Radley as the winner of her heart in the finale.

'If you ever need me, I'll always be there,' Todd told Ali before bursting into tears.

While delivering the blow to Todd, Ali said: 'You have been my knight in shining armour.

'Every moment we've had together you have been exactly that. You have been one of the kindest people I've ever met and have always put my needs before your own.

'I feel like we would have such a perfect life together but something's missing for me.

'One thing I know about love is that it is not just ticking off a checklist. It is about following my heart. And it's led me to someone else.'

A heartbroken Todd then responded: 'This has been about you... and I'm so happy for you. You've found yourself a great guy.

'If you ever need me, I'll always be there. Give me one last cuddle.'

The suitor then broke down in tears as he walked into the surrounding swampland in the Northern Territory, as Ali also became hysterical.

'It hurts more than I could ever describe,' Todd said to camera while choking up.

'I just wish that I could have given her that missing link. But someone else has and she has finally found happiness after so many times trying. She's found it.'
