The Supreme Court on Friday sought CBI director Alok Verma's response to a CVC report which has made some "not very complimentary" findings on the charges against him.

The apex court gave a copy of the CVC findings to Verma in a sealed cover while refusing to share the report with Verma's deputy special director Rakesh Asthana.

The top court will next hear the case on November 20.

The Supreme Court was hearing CBI director Alok Verma's petition challenging the government's order to send him on leave.

In its hearing on November 12, the Supreme Court had received a preliminary enquiry report from the CVC on the allegations made against Alok Verma by number two in the CBI, special director, Rakesh Asthana. The probe was supervised by retired Supreme Court judge A K Patnaik.

A bitter spat had broken out between the top two in the CBI forcing the government to intervene and divest them of their powers.
