An Australian tourist has died after his raft capsized on a river in northwestern Nepal.
The 39-year-old man - whose identity has not been revealed - and four of his fellow rafters had arrived in Triveni on the Karnali River on Thursday when the accident happened, Bhim Rawat, a police officer in Kalikot district said.

In December last year, a 24-year-old French tourist died in a similar accident during a week-long rafting trip on the same river.
The Karnali River is Nepal's longest and originates on the Chinese border and tumbles down rugged hills and dense forest before entering India.
Just seven months earlier an Australian police officer died while on a rafting trip near Queenstown, NZ.
Joshua Paroci, a NSW detective, was with six other Australians when their raft overturned the Shotover River's rapids.
While the raft was being towed to shore, the 31-year-old lost his grip before being swept through another rapid. Despite paramedics attempts to resuscitate him, they were unsuccessful.
And in October, four American tourists along with their Costa Rican guide lost their lives in a rafting accident.
Fourteen tourists were aboard the three rafts, which flipped on the Central American country's Naranjo river.
The five victims were swept away by strong currents, while others managed to cling to the rafts before being rescued.
