The West Bengal Assembly was adjourned Friday after obituary references were made to several prominent personalities including former Lok Sabha speaker Somnath Chatterjee and former Leader of opposition of state assembly Pankaj Bandyopadhyay.
Speaker Biman Banerjee read out obituary references of Somnath Chatterjee, Pankaj Bandyopadhyay and others who passed away during the past few months.
Chatterjee, 10-time Lok Sabha MP, was the first communist leader to become the Lok Sabha Speaker in 2004. He passed away in August.
A founding member of the ruling Trinamool Congress, Bandyopadhyay passed away in October. He was also former leader of the opposition in the assembly from 2001-2006.
The session will continue till November 29.
