Women in Ghaziabad’s Khora will soon get the opportunity to learn multiple skills to gain employment, as a Skill Development Training Centre was launched Thursday by NGO Bisnouli Sarvo-daya Gramodyog Sewa Sansthan.
The centre will offer skill training in four courses — spoken English, computers, beauty and make-up and stitching. It will cater to women aged between 16 and 40. Gulafsha (22), a resident of Khora, said: “I’m really excited to learn various methods of stitching. In other programmes, one is taught basic embroidery. Here we are taught how to make bags, shoes…”
Another trainee, Afreen (18), a migrant from Bihar, said: “I have enrolled myself in English speaking classes. I hope I can bring a change to my life with this move.” The NGO said 110 people registered for the first batch, of which 70% are Muslims. The scheme is part of a CSR initiative by IRCON International.
