Delhi cop posted outside Secretariat shoots himself

NEW DELHI: A policeman posted on security duty outside the Delhi Secretariat allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself from his service pistol. Police say his body was discovered on Friday morning and a probe has been initiated to find out the reason behind the suicide. The CCTV camera installed outside the secretariat is being scanned.
Head constable Sohanveer, deployed with the security unit of the Delhi Police, was posted on night duty at the secretariat VIP parking lot. Early on Friday morning, he seemed to have held his pistol against his temple and fired. Police say that he died on the spot.
Sohanveer's family members have been informed about the incident and the body has been sent for an autopsy at the JPN hospital. The service pistol has also been recovered. Cops have found a suicide note which indicates about a domestic discord to be the reason behind his extreme step.
A probe has been initiated under Section 174 of the CrPC.
