Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro, Mi A2 and Redmi Y2 get a Rs 1000 price cut each.

Xiaomi has announced a price cut for its popular smartphones in India like Redmi Note 5 Pro, Mi A2, and Redmi Y2. The price cut is interesting given the company recently increased the prices Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A along with two Mi LED TVs. With the Redmi Note 5 Pro price drop, keep in mind that Xiaomi is due to launch its successor: the Redmi Note 6 Pro soon on November 22 in India.

The new prices for Xiaomi’s products are Redmi Note 5 Pro with 4GB RAM+64GB storage at Rs 13,999 which is a price drop of Rs 1,000. While the phone initially launched at Rs 13,999, Xiaomi had later hiked the price for this variant by Rs 1,000 to Rs 14,999. Now, the price has been slashed again by Rs 1,000.

The Redmi Note 5 Pro with 6GB RAM and 64GB storage gets a Rs 1,000 price cut as well. The phone will now cots Rs 15,999. During festival season sales, Xiaomi had offered a Rs 2,000 price cut on both models of the phones, which had put the prices at Rs 12,999 and Rs 14,999, making them very competitive offerings in the market.

With the Mi A2, which is an Android One phone in Xiaomi’s portfolio, the new price is now Rs 15,999 and this too gets a Rs 1000 price cut. This price is for the 4GB RAM and 64GB variant. Mi A2 with 6GB RAM and 128GB will now cost Rs 18,999 which is another price cut of Rs 1,000 compared to the original price of Rs 19,999.

Finally, the Redmi Y2 will now cost Rs 11,999 down from Rs 12,999 for the 4GB+64GB option. The Redmi Y2 is part of Xiaomi’s selfie-focused phones.

On the price cut, Xiaomi claims this is in keeping with their philosophy of honest pricing and not making  more than 5 per cent profit margin on any hardware product. The company claims they have seen a reduction in component costs of some of their best-selling phones, which is why they have slashed prices. However, there is no price cut for the budget Redmi 6 series, which has actually seen an increase as we pointed out earlier.

These price adjustments are effective today, 12 pm noon across all sales platforms, according to Xiaomi.
