A father who led police on a high-speed chase will spend Christmas behind bars without his girlfriend and their baby daughter after pleading guilty to the pursuit.

Tyson Finney, 21, is in custody in New South Wales and is also wanted for questioning over a drive-by shooting in Currumbin Waters, Queensland on Monday.

Tweed Heads Local Court in NSW heard on Wednesday that the vehicle and its passengers were linked to a 'very recent incident involving the production of a firearm in an incident that occurred in Queensland'.

Finney's glamorous girlfriend Olivia Louise watched on as her partner pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and driving without a licence.

He also admitted to driving in an unregistered and uninsured car.

The 21-year-old was denied bail and will next appear in court for sentencing in January, The Gold Coast Bulletin reports.

The court heard Finney drove a Volkswagen Golf across the border from Queensland to NSW shortly after 2pm on Tuesday.

Police chased the vehicle – which was travelling at 137km per hour in a 110km per hour zone – with lights and sirens but the car failed to stop and instead increased its speed to 150km per hour.

The car was heading towards the Tugun airport tunnel where police were waiting and had positioned spikes to stop the Golf.

'The vehicle made a violent and abrupt harsh left turn back…in an attempt to avoid the spikes,' the police statement read.

The vehicle dramatically swerved before coming to a stop, facing the wrong direction, where police surrounded the car, ordered Finney to get out and handcuffed him.

Onlookers claimed that a blonde woman was also removed from the car and arrested, as well as a second man who had 'blood on his head'.

Finney will remain in a NSW jail over Christmas until his sentencing in January, at which point QLD police will be able to apply for his extradition to face questioning over Monday's alleged shooting.

The incident on Monday involved a red Volkswagen Golf carrying two men who allegedly boxed in and rammed another car near Mermaid beach at around midday.

Police said one of the men pointed a gun at the couple in the car before driving off.

Later that evening the same car drove to Judeller road in Currumbin Waters where someone in the car fired two bullets into a house.

A front window and interior wall were damaged but those inside, including a 27-year-old man, were unharmed.
