The State Auto Taxi Light Motor Drivers Coordination Committee’s proposed indefinite stir from November 18 in protest against the delay in increasing fares has been deferred following talks with Transport Minister A.K. Saseendran.

At the meeting convened by the Minister in the Secretariat on Thursday, it was informed that the fare hike proposed for autorickshaws and taxis by the four-member M. Ramachandran Committee on fare revision would come into effect from December.

The coordination committee of the workers decided to defer the strike after the government agreed to the demands.
