Police suspect property dispute

A 28-year-old woman was shot dead by three unidentified men at her house in Greater Noida’s Ram Vatika colony on Thursday morning, the police said. They suspect property dispute behind the murder.

Sandhya Tomar, from Khatana Village, who was separated from her husband, was living with her two children — an eight-year-old boy and five-year-old daughter — in Dadri. Her husband lived in Gurugram, they added.

She had separated from him due to her alleged relationship with another man — Arun (30). Arun informed the police after he found Sandhya dead.

“A call was received at 9.15 a.m. after which a team reached the spot and found the woman dead. She was allegedly shot,” said SHO at Dadri Ram Sen Singh. During questioning, Arun said on Wednesday, three unidentified men had come to Sandhya for buying one of her properties. “The same men came on Thursday morning about which Sandhya informed Arun over the phone. By the time, he reached the house, she was dead,” Mr. Singh added. Rinkoo, a tenant at Sandhya’s three-story house, said she did not hear any gunshot. “On Wednesday, Sandhya had won the custody of her two children from her in-laws in the court. They did not like her because of her alleged affair,” said Rinkoo.

Case registered

SP Rural Vineet Jaiswal said, a case has been registered under Section 302 (murder) against the three unidentified men. “The body has been sent for an autopsy. A forensic test of the crime scene was conducted. The accused will soon be nabbed,” Mr. Jaiswal added.
