White House Says It Will Restore CNN Reporter's Pass Temporarily
(Bloomberg) -- The White House said it will restore CNN reporter Jim Acosta’s press pass temporarily, complying with a court order issued earlier in the day.
White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said Friday the administration also will impose new rules governing reporters’ conduct at news conferences.
“In response to the court, we will temporarily reinstate the reporter’s hard pass,” Sanders said, referring to a White House press pass. “We will also further develop rules and processes to ensure fair and orderly press conferences in the future. There must be decorum at the White House.”
U.S. District Judge Timothy Kelly, a Trump appointee, ordered the White House to temporarily restore the press pass while CNN’s legal challenge to the action proceeds in court. The CNN reporter’s pass was revoked late on Nov. 7 following a contentious presidential press conference, a day after Democrats won control of the House of Representatives in the midterm elections.
