CHANDIGARH: Written examination for UT constables' recruitment was cancelled at two computer centres in Delhi on Thursday as candidates complained that some machines were hacked to benefit a select few. However, the police authorities blamed the cancellation on technical glitches.
Thursday was the first day of computer-based written test for recruiting 520 constables in the UT police. Police department has set up 25 centres in Haryana, Punjab, Delhi and Chandigarh for more than 36,000 candidates, of which 8,313 took the computer-based test (CBT) on Day One.
The department cancelled exam at SL Computers and IP Convent Senior Secondary School, Delhi. The test for these candidates will now be conducted at other centres on November 16 and 17. The candidates have been advised to download revised admit cards from the official website of the UT police.
Sources in the UT police said, "Some of the computers were hacked at the two centres. The candidates created a hullaballoo and complained to the invigilators and the UT police officials deputed there. The candidates said the machines were hacked by outsiders."
A candidate said, "In the first two minutes, when we had done only 10 to 12 objective questions, many others had completed more than 80." While talking to the TOI over phone, UT DIG OP Mishra said the recruitment exam at the two centres was cancelled due to technical glitches. "At one centre, the paper was cancelled in the midst and at the other before it started. There was no other reason," he said.
