630 missing in California's deadliest blazeMore than six hundred people are missing in the rubble and ash left by California's deadly Camp Fire. Officials raising the figure on Thursday night (November 15) as firefighters continue to battle the flames a week after the fire started. Dozens of people have been confirmed dead making it the most lethal wildfire in California history. The high death toll blamed on the fire's staggering speed fueled by dried scrub and trees as it raced through Paradise, a town of 27,000. They said they escaped by taking to back roads in their jeep. As they looked at the list of missing people, Julie teared up. She said she recognized many names, she said it had felt like she was looking at their whole community." Meanwhile, pressure is mounting on the utilities company which may have been responsible for starting the blaze. Pacific Gas and Electric has warned it might not have enough insurance to cover liability, which could be as high as $15 billion. But on Thursday (November 15) shares in the company surged 40% in after-hours trade following a Bloomberg report that regulators do not want it to go bankrupt. | |||||
