Leaving Apple and Samsung behind, OnePlus has emerged as the top brand in terms of maximum smartphone shipment in the Indian premium segment in the third quarter of 2018, market research firm International Data Corporation (IDC) has said. According to the IDC Q3 2018 Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker report, OnePlus achieved the highest-ever sales in a quarter with the OnePlus 6. Additionally, in the $400-plus price segment, OnePlus clocked its highest ever shipments in a quarter, pushing the overall smartphone Average Selling Price (ASP) in the online space to $166 in the third quarter of 2018 from $156 in the third quarter of 2017.
The report also says that the Indian smartphone market reached an all-time high of 42.6 million unit shipments in Q3 2018, witnessing a growth of 9.1 percent year-on-year (YoY). The rise has been attributed to price cuts of the smartphone during festive season sales on e-tailers and offers like zero or low-cost EMIs, buyback guarantees, cashback on debit/credit cards. The report said that brands such as Xiaomi, OnePlus, Honor, Realme, Asu, among others helped in the quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) growth of 37 percent.
