President Kovind encourages girls to chose engineering in Bihar

President Ram Nath Kovind has called for encouraging girls to study engineering and lamented less enrollment of girls in the institute.

He was addressing the convocation of NIT in Patna on Thursday.

The President said that none of India’s developmental goals will have meaning without equal opportunities for our daughters and girl child.

The President said the research at NIT Patna should aim at resolving various problems of the people of Bihar and the country. He urged the NIT graduates to partner agricultural scientists and collaborate with farmers to help enhance productivity and incomes.

Earlier in the day, the President visited Pusa, Samastipur to address the first convocation of the Dr Rajendra Prasad Central Agricultural University.

 

He said if gender disparity is not addressed, scientific achievement would be less than perfect and less than desirable.

Earlier in the day, Mr Kovind exhorted students to become an agent of change and contribute to the welfare of the farming community.

He was speaking at the first convocation of Dr. Rajendra Prasad Central Agricultural University at Pusa in Samastipur.

Mr Kovind said students need to continuously innovate to help farmers increase productivity as there is a relative shortage of land and water resources in proportion to the country’s population.

He said Agriculture students must harness the unexplored potential that still exists in the farm sector.
