FALL RIVER — More than 200 crafters from throughout New England will participate in the 42nd annual Christmas Arts and Crafts Fair at B.M.C. Durfee High School on Dec. 1 and 2.

James Rogers, founder and chairman, noted that the fair has become a traditional holiday event that continues to maintain its original purpose of providing a showcase setting where area craftsmen may display and sell their work.

The Christmas Arts and Craft Fair has grown into the largest event of its kind in southern New England. The two-day event attracts more than 8,000 people from throughout the area.

More than 20 categories of crafts — including ceramics, pottery, painting, photography and floral design — will be featured.

Over 50 volunteers, including members of the Durfee Orchestra have agreed to assist during the two-day event. Volunteers are welcomed to join in this holiday tradition by calling Rogers at 508-673-1118 or by email, jimanddee@comcast.net.

Sponsored by the Fall River Scholarship Foundation, the fair is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday. There is free admission and free parking. Proceeds from the fair will go to the Fall River Scholarship Foundation, a non-profit organization that awards scholarships to deserving Fall River students in their pursuit of a higher education.
