Scientists discover a ’Super-Earth’ orbiting Sun’s closest star

Scientists at the European Southern Observatory (ESO) have discovered the second nearest planet to Earth, outside our solar system. The ’Super-Earth’ has been discovered orbiting the closest star to our sun called Bernard’s star. Scientists have classified the ’Super-Earth’ as Bernard’s star b. It is estimated that the planet is a ‘frozen, dimly lit world’ that weighs 3.2 times heavier than our Earth. It has a surface temperature of -170 degree celsius and the exact nature and properties of the planet remain unknown.
