Vadodara: A man from Karjan was booked for allegedly abetting suicide of a talati at Panigate police station.
Accused Pankaj Patel had promised to marry the deceased Anjana Rathwa, who was working at Karjan taluka panchayat, after divorcing his wife. However, few days before Diwali Patel broke up with Rathwa saying that he cannot divorce his wife.

According to police, , around 10 months back when Rathwa was working in Karjan, she fell in love with Patel, who told her that he was a bachelor. Few months later she decided to break up with Patel on learning that he was married.

However, Patel told her that he will divorce his wife and marry her. They continued their relationship, but few days before Diwali Patel told Rathwa that he cannot divorce his wife. He told her that she can either be his paramour or break up with him and end her life.

When Rathwa had come to her parents’ home at Waghodiya Road for Diwali holidays, she shaved her head. When her brother Vinaykumar asked her the reason for it, she told him about his relationship with Patel. Her family members pacified her and her parents promised her that they will talk to Patel after Diwali.

On November 9, when her parents were away at Virpur and her brother was not present in the house, Rathwa committed suicide by hanging herself to a ceiling fan. tnn
