A private school teacher was left humiliated after an explicit video her husband sent to a 17-year-old boy was seen by her students.

The man chatted to the teenager from his wife's private school in Sydney last year, referring to him as 'my little schoolboy' and sharing a clip of himself engaged in a sex act.

The male student attended another New South Wales private school, The Sydney Morning Herald reported.

A concerned parent is understood to have reported the matter to the police and the school, before its principal told parents the man 'will not be returning to the school grounds'.

'I would appreciate it if you do not discuss this situation amongst yourselves as I am sure that you very much value the privacy of our member of staff who is highly respected and much loved by the girls and their parents,' the principal wrote.

One parent described the principal's letter as an 'insulting gag order'.

'Those girls who knew about it are still talking about it, especially with the current mixed messages of homosexuality and where the Sydney Anglican diocese stands on this subject,' the parent said.

The school was among 34 Anglican schools to sign the Anglican 'religious freedoms' letter which was sent to Prime Minister Scott Morrison, requesting exemptions under the Sex Discrimination Act.

The letter urged the federal government not to bow to pressure to overhaul anti-discrimination laws to protect gay teachers and students.
