Considering it an auspicious day, contestants from various constituencies on Wednesday filed their nomination for the December 7 Assembly elections, raising the political temperature in poll-bound Telangana.
Pomp and show
In Nirmal, Housing Minister in caretaker TRS government A. Indrakaran Reddy took out a rally before filing nomination. A bike rally between Kagaznagar and Sirpur towns was taken out by Sirpur Congress candidate Palvai Harish Babu.
In Adilabad, candidates, one each from TRS, Congress and BSP, filed papers without fanfare. Two from TRS filed papers for Chennur (SC) and Bellampally (SC) seats in Mancherial district while Mudhole constituency saw a TRS nominee and another from Congress filing papers. Khanapur (ST constituency) saw A. Rekha Naik of TRS filing her nomination.
Minus the brouhaha
Warangal district witnessed a rush among candidates to file their nomination sans any rally — S. Madhusudhana Chary (TRS), Gandra Venkataramana Reddy (Congress), Ch. Keerthi Reddy (BJP) and independent candidate Gandra Satayanarayana Rao from Bhupalpally, apart from a TRS and a BJP leader in Warangal West.
Congress leader Naini Rajender Reddy, who was denied ticket, filed nomination as a rebel candidate. The ticket has been allotted to TDP leader Revuri Prakash Reddy as part of the grand alliance understanding.
Station Ghanpur saw a TRS nominee filing papers; in Narasampet, three nominations were filed, one each by TRS, BJP and Shiv Sena.
Low-key affair
Candidates filing their nomination from various constituencies of undivided Karimnagar district was a low-key affair.
TPCC working president Ponnam Prabhakar filed his nomination papers from Karimnagar assembly segment; he would vie for the seat with nominees from TRS, BJP and Musku Mahender Reddy, president of tainted ASI Mohan Reddy victims’ association.
From Choppadandi assembly segment, former legislator Bodige Shobha, who was denied TRS ticket, filed her nomination on behalf of BJP.
Two TRS candidates filed their papers from Korutla and Jagtial segments.
From Dharmapuri segment, one candidate each from TRS and BJP filed their nominations. In Peddapalli district, former Minister D. Sridhar Babu filed his nomination papers from Manthani; while one from Congress as well as a TRS and BJP candidate filed from Peddapalli.
TRS rebel K. Chander filed his papers from Ramagundam as independent candidate. In Vemulawada, former legislator Ch. Ramesh Babu filed his papers.
Ex-MLAs and kin
In Yellareddy, ex-MLA E. Ravinder Reddy (TRS) filed his papers while Jukkal (SC reserved) saw former MLA Soudagar Gangaram and his wife Savitri Gangaram (Congress) filing one set of papers each. Sobhavathi Shinde, wife of former MLA Hanmanth Shinde, submitted nomination on his behalf for TRS. In Kamareddy, two nominations, one each by TRS and BJP candidates, were filed.
A dozen nominations
Twelve nominations were filed in the district on the third day of paper submission. Those who filed papers included Agriculture Minister Srinivas Reddy Parige (Pocharam) and Mission Bhagiratha vice-chairman Vemula Prashanth Reddy.
In Nizamabad (rural), no nomination has been filed so far.
