Viraj Deshpande | TNN | Nov 16, 2018, 03:20 ISTNagpur: Jaripatka police on Thursday arrested Shubham alias Ghubad Wasnik, 25, in connection with the murder of a dreaded goon Kalu Gajbhiye from Indora area.
Kalu was found with his throat slit and several stabbing wounds on Wednesday near Choksi Colony in Jaripatka. Shubham will be produced before a court on Friday.
Two more accused in the case — Lakhan Wadve and Birju Wadve — are still absconding.
According to cops, Shubham has claimed before them that both Lakhan and Birju had quarrelled with Kalu a fortnight ago after which they had decided to eliminate the goon.
However, sources claimed that Kalu and the other accused were partners in an illegal gambling den being operated in Maya Nagar area. A dispute over some financial matters had arisen between the partners which led the accused to kill Kalu.
Meanwhile, Kalu’s post-mortem was conducted on Thursday at Mayo Hospital.
On Wednesday, Kalu was at the gambling den when the accused arrived there and assaulted him. One of the accused slit Kalu’s throat and also stabbed him several times. Someone from those present there tried to intervene, but the accused beat him up.
The incident has also highlighted illegal gambling dens being run right under the nose of Jaripatka police.
