After opening in an impressive manner, Aamir Khan, Amitabh Bachchan and Katrina Kaif film Thugs of Hindostan witnessed a slump in its earnings on Wednesday as it only managed to collect a sum of Rs 3.50 crore.

The movie had earned Rs 50.75 crore on day one and had continued its dream run until a fresh week brought it to its knees. Thugs of Hindostan has raked in a sum of Rs 137.55 crore till now. The poor reviews and word-of-mouth promotions could be one of the reasons behind the movie’s diminishing numbers.

Sharing the box office figures of Thugs of Hindostan, trade analyst Taran Adarsh wrote on Twitter, “#ThugsOfHindostan – #Hindi: Thu 50.75 cr, Fri 28.25 cr, Sat 22.75 cr, Sun 17.25 cr, Mon 5.50 cr, Tue 4.35 cr, Wed 3.50 cr. Total: ₹ 132.35 cr. India biz… #Hindi + #Tamil + #Telugu total: ₹ 137.55 cr.”

The Indian Express’ film critic Shubhra Gupta had given the movie one star and called it stale. “With two big marquee names coming together for the first time, the screen should have crackled. When Bachchan taps into his unexplored reserves, he is capable of blowing you away. Still. And on the top of his game, Khan is a magnet in his own right. But there is not even a flicker. What you get instead is nothing but a massive cherry-picking enterprise from big entertainers of the past, many of them YRF’s own. Not only do you end up picking up on past films, scenes and references, you are left struggling with staleness and boredom. The writing is shockingly pedestrian, and the film just lies around, waiting for something to happen. Nothing does, for nearly three hours,” a section of her review read.

The movie stars Aamir Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Katrina Kaif and Fatima Sana Shaikh in significant roles. It has been directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya, who had previously collaborated with Aamir on Dhoom 3.
