Denied ticket for fourth time, DCC president hopes for party to reconsider move

District Congress Committee (DCC) president Naini Rajender Reddy on Wednesday filed his nomination from Warangal West constituency here as a rebel candidate.

He, however, said he still hoped the party would reconsider its decision.

Mr. Reddy stated that he would stay in the fray even as an independent candidate as he was denied ticket for the fourth time in a row. “I have worked for the party for 36 years and every time the party leadership assured me of a good chance in future. But it never came my way,” he said.

Meanwhile, Ponnala Lakshmaiah’s name did not figure in the second list announced by the party in New Delhi on Wednesday. “It is sad that a veteran BC leader has been cast aside in the name of grand alliance. BCs will distance themselves from the party if his name is not announced,” said E.V. Srinivas, a senior functionary of the party.
