Malcolm Turnbull has been slammed for boasting about legalising gay marriage on the one-year anniversary of the historic vote.
Tens of thousands of people draped in rainbow flags and wearing 'Yes' badges cheered outside of the State Library of Victoria, Prince Alfred Park in Sydney and Queens Garden in Brisbane as the result was announced on November 15, 2017.
Former Prime Minister Turnbull congratulated the country a year after the results of the postal survey were announced.

Mr Turnbull was harshly criticised for allowing the issue to be decided by an at-times divisive public vote which cost $81million (people celebrating the yes vote)
'A year has passed and nearly five thousand same-sex couples have been married... It said a lot about our commitment to democracy, equality and a fair go,' he posted on Twitter.
Mr Turnbull was harshly criticised for allowing the issue to be decided by an at-times divisive public vote which cost $81million.
'It said a lot about you being a spineless f***head,' one person bluntly replied.
'Unfortunately, because of the process you chose, many family relationships and friendships were fractured, ' another wrote.
'As has been said many times, the good response was in spite of, not because of, your inability to to just allow a free vote.'
Close to eight million people - representing 61.6 per cent of the population - voted 'Yes', while 4.8 million - representing 38.4 per cent of the population - voted 'No' in the survey.
Author Clementine Ford said Turnbull had put 'the LGBTQI community through hell', calling him a 'd***head'.

Labor Senator Penny Wong - who shed tears of joy when the result was announced - said the survery was a 'bruising experience'.
'But the country did a great thing... Australia made a profound statement about inclusion and acceptance,' she told Sky News.
Labor leader Bill Shorten made a 'Throwback Thursday' post to Facebook to acknowledge the anniversary.
'I was at the State Library in Melbourne, celebrating with thousands of Australians - it's the day love and equality triumphed in Australia,' Mr Shorten said.
'Congratulations to all the couples who married in the last 12 months.'
Former Prime Minister Tony Abbott's sister Christine Forster - an outspoken supporter of gay marriage despite her brother's opposition - also took to social media a year on from the result announcement.
'It's hard to believe a year has passed since Australia voted YES for marriage equality. What a moment, what a result, what a year!' she said.
