A mother has slammed a café after her five-year-old daughter suffered a life-threatening allergic reaction. 

Amelia was rushed to Perth Children's Hospital after suffering an allergic reaction from a cookie containing nuts purchased at a Perth Coffee Club.

Her mother Rosee claims she checked with staff before buying the snack, but they told her it was nut free.

'I asked them if it had any nuts, they said it was just a normal choc chip cookie,' Rosee told 7 News.  

Rosee said she took the staff member's word for it and put it in Amelia's lunch box.

Later, Amelia suffered a serious allergic reaction and was taken to Perth Children's Hospital, where she was administered a shot of adrenaline.

The traumatic ordeal has prompted Rosee to call for better awareness about allergies among café staff. 

Rosee claims the labelled wrapper clearly stated the coolie contained pecans.

'My daughter could've died from what happened. Her face was swollen, her lips,' Rosee said.
